Perkins Center Explained

When Les first came to me with the idea of a Perkins center I was down with the idea.
Finally, Les was showing his cool side by endorsing rockabilly grassroots music. He totally closed himself off to my praise though by insisting it was about reconciliation. I dig that. Carl knew poverty; his first guitar was a matchbox and broomhandle. And yet he grew up to drive black cadillacs with Johnny Cash and Elvis. The american dream and christ's calling on all our lives.

Once it was built I learned that the center wasn't dedicated to carl perkins, but john perkins.
You can see how the confusion was made.

And that's cool I guess. I don't need a new music consevatory anyway; my brand of music is hiphop. That comes from the streets. It defies your precious instituitions, Les. In your face.
If I know John Perkins, he'll be bustin' some fly moves to my mad beats next time he hops a jet up here. Maybe you'll see us down on Nickerson next time you are doing your FFMC streat cleaning.

And that's the biznitz on the Perkins center.
